Japan in Autumn, part Five
after a break, boo is back with more stories about japan.
ended Part Four with a train ride. on the way from Sounkyo to Noboribetsu 登別, a little hot spring town with lots of 'hells'.
the town
little statues along the way
hell! basically this whole place is full of hot springs.
some ponds are not fit for bathing, for they are full of sulphur
a nice little walk
a footbath! took out my shoes and had a soak of my time.
more 'hell' statues
geiser, sort of.
the ryokan i was staying for the night. actually for my birthday. kind of a treat.
door of the room
corridor
the jokers posing in their yukata before dinner
for dinner, we headed to the dining area and were served a full course. includes grilled items. hence the little stove
mushrooms, corn, yam
appetisers
soupy stuff
the menu
hairy crab!! yum!!
got to pick some items to be grilled. i was darn smart to choose sausage which filled me up
sashimi time.
veils divide the diners
beer in one hand, hairy crab in the other
kirin autumn beer
oh one of my favourite. ochazuke. something like rice in soup. salmon version.
delicious pear and wonderful grapes at the end of the meal.
