Japan in Spring, Part Four (last part)
Part Four (and last part) of the spring trip.
Took the train, which will bring us along the coastline.
not forgetting to grab a beer for the ride
arrived at a small onsen town. got picked up by the ryokan's shuttle bus.
here is the room! and this is the most luxurious stay so far.
the sea of japan, view from the room.
anpanman
went out for a stroll before dinner
couple playing some kinda batting game
it's so beautiful
someone was very engrossed. notice the clogs we get to wear outside of the hotel
i waded into the sea
fun on the beach
there was a footbath too. how very nice. to be watching the sunset and soaking your tired feet in the water
and the sun sets slowly
view from the room
and the sun disappears from the horizon
dinner is coming! i booked the hotel for the plan that will allow us to eat in the room!
dinner starts! itadakimasu!
after dinner, the crew who is in charge of bedding comes and make our beds.
tada!
look at someone's new sneakers. i honestly think they don't go very well with the yukata
then we wandered outside for a little while
anpanman, on the 3rd floor
5th floor
and to confirm that he is everywhere, on the 4th floor
source of the hot spring
the moon lits up the skies a little and you can see the sea
ohayo, sea of japan!
okay, breakie time. it's a buffet style. the japanese calls it Viking. no idea why.
natto time!
took the shuttle bus back to Murakami Station to catch another train back to Tokyo
check out our bags. this picture was taken before we realized we were on the wrong platform. then next thing we did was carry the bags and ran for our lives.
switched to the shinkansen at Niigata Station
we took a double decker shinkansen, my favourite!
but too bad there weren't any seats upstairs.
local beer
lunch lunch lunch
goodbye snowy mountains
hello busy Tokyo
went to the Meiji Jingu Shrine
write your wishes and hang them up
have never seen Asakusa at night. it was nice
had dinner at a little shop. ooh i love udon.
tempura soba, not mine.
i love milk too!
and cc lemon
and beerbeerbeer
our hotel is located near the office of Bandai. outside their office, you will see their mascots. recognize any?
i must visit this senbei shop everytime i go to Tokyo. just like in Autumn 2008
there were many food stalls along the way. this is a takoyaki stall
and this is a dango stall. look closer at what the stall owner is holding in her right hand. cigarette!
we headed to watch a show and was queueing for ticket when we spotted Kyoko! oh my! what a fantastic coincidence!! we did not have time to meet her so we didn't managed to arrange anything but of all people, and of all place, we saw her and her family. and the best part was they don't even stay in Tokyo.
the kids have grown up. see them about half a year ago, here.
they were going to a kid's show. since we had time, we followed along.
oh look! domo-kun
the show was in the compound of NHK or something. this is their office canteen which was transformed for the public into an eating place for the time being
Mizuki's meal, how cute!
ain't i glad to see Kyoko again!
look at the little vans selling food. such a great idea. i think the project kinda failed here, in my island. bah.
we went to catch a traveling show by Cirque du Soleil, Corteo! tickets were really hard to come by though.
churros!
streets of Tokyo
dinner was at a bar.
my table was just next to the street
and what must you not miss when you pop by the big city? sushi sushi sushi!
ootoro... so so yummy
yes, we went to outer Tsukiji Market. oh well, we tried to visit the market itself but it was closed. no luck again...
took a stroll after breakie and walked past the national kabuki theatre.
this is Ginza
i was amazed by this! it tells you which cubicle is available for use. toilet cubicles.
Daimaru food hall, another yummy stop
this, is my favourite senbei at Asakusa. it comes from a little stall at the back of the main streets. went back to Asakusa after buying a bag for ele at Ueno. hotel was near to Asakusa by the way.
fat backpacks at the end of the trip
taking narita express to the airport.
