chongqing THREE

the shop's mural

we went to check out another part of town on some monorail

this was an upcoming shopping mall, another potential site for a new outlet

their 'orchard road'. night time.

goofing around, not me of course.

everyone, this is my first mala steamboat. authentic one. see the peppercorns and chilli floating around like nobody's business

during weekends, we would make a day trip to elsewhere so we were not so bored. this was one of them, which i already cannot remember the name.

another trip, we went to this little street/town which they recreated.

this is the point where one of the river mixes with part of the yangtze river. hence the color differences.

got my shoe shined.

another day trip to one of the nearby mountains.

yes ping pong as outdoor activity

chongqing TWO

oh this is my apartment with Rich and yes, the office as well.

we went to the equivalent of a carrefour and got me a cupboard. here is a very very strong Rich, lifting my cupboard after fixing it.

cute. it is a zippy one!

well, because i knew it was winter, i thought this little socks/shoe would suffice. alas. i was wrong. now i understand why sales of indoor slippers are high.

oh look. my stuff. borrowed mini speaker from uncle so i can have some music in my room.

nightview. they like to light up the buildings apparently.

oh well. stupid me didnt bring the proper house shoes so was literally freezing my toes off. the next day, i went to the supermarket and bought myself a pair of proper slipper. important point is, COVER YOUR TOES.

this is probably my first SPICY meal.

chillis are free

morning view from the apartment. another name for chongqing is actually City of Mountains 山城 because of the geographical location of chongqing. i don't know if what i remembered was true but was told chongqing is surrounded by mountains, hence the name. and due to the fact the city is surrounded by the mountains, chongqing is always hotter and always colder when the hot/cold air gets trapped in the valley (as in the city) and air cannnot comes in.

the new shop which was going to be ready

chongqing ONE

haven't really told anyone much about my trip to Chongqing, China, about 3 years ago. what did i do there? oh well, was kinda out of job then and Rich offered me a three month stint as a coffee trainer. took it up and was off to chongqing in feb 2005. it was a wonderful experience, thank you.

here are some photos.

took silkair, the only direct flight. empty!

bye bye stinkapor!

one of the loveliest photos ever taken on a plane

river

my room for the next 3 months. my backpack, newly bought then.

view from the apartment, 35th floor (if i remembered right). chongqing is a city with many bridges as you can see in the distant.

(having some problems uploading photos.... so to be continued)

nike flight

after some research on sports earphones, i narrowed down to three choices.

the first was sony. looks cool but because i wear glasses, i have always declined this style of earphones. did see this at bugis sony and not too ex i thought. forgot the price but i think about 30plus. will confirm again.

the second was sennheiser. seems to be excellent choice but didn't manage to find in in the shops.

settled on the nike flight! they had it in white or black but i reckon white=grey=black so might as well get the black one. after discount, $28+
wooo.

anyway i tried it out. works quite fine except wires bit too long. need to find a solution. but well at least wires doesn't dance about in your face.

the sky is red

look at the incoming rain

earphones killa

oh well. apparently i have been termed a 'killa' by DQ. haha.

sis passed me new earphones already. according to the green (yucks) packaging, it is a panasonic RP-HV172. it is 1.1m/3.5ft in wire length. comes with a black winding case. hahah. so old school. black by the way. oh, and the price tag at the back says $13.00

yesterday got an armband for ipod, so it is suppose to be more convenient. turns out it doesn't work so well with the panasonic. wires jumping all over my face. ended up clipping ipod on my shorts instead. in this case... does it mean i have to buy another earphone? i have my eyes on the nike one. mmmmmm.

oh i forgot to mention my other headphone. haha. black audio technica, foldable. it is nice. had been around for awhile, just not been using it cos it's a lil too warm to be using it in the daytime. anyway, audiotechnica been working hard too, now the leather/pvc is flaking.

perhaps i should put a face to my victims.

ipod original. from white to grey.

audiotechnica, flaking away.

sennheiser. see the tape?

new kid on the block. let's see how long you will last.
