Applebee's at 111

Looking for a place to fill the hungry tummy when Turtle suggested we head for Applebee's. Being the frog in the well (the 4months stint in Koalaland didn't help), I haven't even been to the mall where it's located. That is 111 Somerset.

The staff were made up of non-locals (as usual) and it wasn't too crowded at 7.30pm.. yet.

Ordered the Ultimate Trio which consisted of three appetizers of your choice. Decided upon these three:
- Cheeseburger Sliders x 2 (mini cheeseburgers)
- Steak Quesadilla Towers x 1 (cut into two)
- Spinach and Artichoke Dip (came with Nachos)

Cost about S$25. Okay portioning. Loved the Spinach Dip but some of the Nachos were way too salty. I honestly think everyone out there should make mini cheeseburgers because it's really yummy and the portion is just nice.

With the advice of the staff, another dish was chosen. Chose a half portion of Shrimp Salad. Not too bad. Didn't like avocados so Turtle munched up all of it.

Also drank a modest glass of 0.3litre of Kronenburg Blanc since I have never come across the draft version. Wheaty beer, quite yummy.

Their drinks menu also included some delicious sounding Martinis and Margaritas (kept confusing the two). The price range was about S$15 and above. I thought it was pretty expensive (and whoever that frequent No.5 will know that too). However, I changed my mind when this couple at the next table ordered a Margarita. Applebee's actually served the drink TOGETHER with the shaker. This means that for every drink you order, you get a whole shaker-full of it~ Okay quite worth the price then. Not sure how delicious the drinks taste thought. But the couple looked quite happy and amused.

Won't mind going back to the place for a casual dinner next time. The staff are quite efficient and helpful, especially when I asked how much food did I need to order to fill up the growling tummies. They were quite friendly with other diners as well. I was pleased that the lady asked me a second time if I wanted the Kronenburg Draft or Kronenburg Blanc Draft. Well done! Oh minus point for the guy who took a million years to get the bill. Otherwise, the service is great!

more earphones/headphones

Was talking to a friend the other day and realised that I have not been updating the stories of all my dead and living earphones/headphones.

The last post on this was 4th April 2009! That was so long ago. Read it HERE if you are interested.

Dead (since 2009)
1. Audio Technica headphones, can't remember cause of death

2. Seinheiser headphones, after extending it's life, it served me for a little while before it kicked the bucket

3. So called "iPhone" (ahem) earphones that cost me S$29, which died in a hurry

4. KOSS earphones. Bought it for S$9.90 at HMV because I forgot my earphones that day and couldn't live without music, even for that 45 minutes of bus ride. It served me pretty well! Took it along with me to Sydney. Poor KOSS coughed, sputtered and died in the foreign land.

Alive and well
1. My jogging companion, the Sony headphone is still with me, well done!

2. Original iPod earphones. One side makes a fuzzy sound but I still use it, for riding!

3. Philips earphones. I got this little fella after the KOSS died in Sydney. Bought this in Myers, cost me about AUD$11, after discount! Using it for regular commute, nice bass.

4. Another Philips earphones, bought it in late 2010. This is for Skype-ing, internet chat and computer use as it has a microphone.

5. My treasure of the lot would be my Audio Technica Quiet Point ATH-ANC 1. It has the noise canceling function, great for a noisy bus ride. Comes with an airplane jack so you can bring it onboard! Got it around May 2010.

I love all of them!
