japanese food

let's make some japanese food!

Ochazuke お茶ずけ

first, we cook some japanese rice.

instant Ochazuke mix

pour it on the gleaming white rice

boil some water & pour it in. if you have the time, green tea would be better.

tada!

add in some wasabi 山葵

next up!

let's make some onigiri おにぎり (rice balls)

well, you will need some furikake ふりかけ which are toppings. instant ones.
from left:
mentaiko 明太子 (spicy cod roe), shake 鮭 (salmon), okaka おかか (katsuobushi/dried skipjack tuna with soy sauce), shirasu しらす (dried baby anchovies), umejiso 梅じそ (pickled plum)

more rice!

add whatever furikake you like. this is okaka.

not forgetting the moulds..

stuff the mixed rice in the mould

cover & squish

revealing the almost ready onigiri

pour it out, tada!

and after many many many tries... you get a plate-ful of onigiri

cling-wrap the onigiri if you want to have it the next day

stuff everything in the fridge & don't forget to bring it to work
