those days, everything was self service. you write your own order, passed it to whoever is working at the bar and pay up for the food. how do you know when your food is ready? oh no, they are not going to shout 'hey you, yes you!'. as Charlie's is situated at the end of the food center and there aren't much things there, the corner tends to be quite dark. so they take a torchlight and they SHINE at your table! wala! there you go, your food is ready.
alas, to cater to the demanding crowd now, they have actually recruited staff (blur ones) and became a regular eating place.
they still have a fantastic selection of beer beer sake beer. non-alco drinks come in a glass pre-frozen so the ice is below while your coke/juice is on top.

was having a new beer, Golden Ale. courtesy of the silly one who gave the wrong order. i was actually enjoying my Little Creatures' Bright Ale. then i wanted to try Lil Creatures' Pale Ale. so i joked, please get me the golden ale. without thinking, she said, One Golden Ale please...
and the joke was, there IS really a Golden Ale. Not so delicious anyway.
